Fairfax, VA (January 14, 2008) ---- Songs 4 Worship: Country remains a strong contender on the Country and Christian charts more than three months after its release date, October 2, 2007. Total scans for last week were 9,866, the biggest week to date, and chart positions from Soundscan are #3 for Contemporary Christian, #14 for the Country charts, and #93 in Billboard’s Top 200 Album Charts.
“Songs 4 Worship: Country was from the beginning a very special project for us,” says Mike Jason, Senior Vice President, Audio & Video Retail, Time Life. “The label, the producers and the artists went into the recording with the goal of making a great album with a strong message and to see the fans react so positively is really gratifying. We are working on a star-studded event to support Songs 4 Worship: Country that will take place in Nashville during Fan Fair.”
The strong response from media and fans comes from the powerful performances of today’s hottest Country artists, many of which had never recorded Praise & Worship music before. The CD features twelve classic Praise and Worship songs with a Country twist plus three brand new compositions. On top of that Rascal Flatts contributed one of their existing recordings for this very special collection. The album showcases the talents of such top Country artists as Charlie Daniels, Oak Ridge Boys, Emerson Drive, Ricky Skaggs and Diamond Rio, to name just a few. Co-producers Teddy Gentry and Michael Curtis thought combining praise and worship music with these artists would be a perfect match.
“I was thrilled to become part of such a special recording project where my faith could play a part,” says Gentry, former bassist of supergroup Alabama. “Most Country artists have a gospel music background so the response from the guest artists was also very positive.”
The fans and press have been supportive of Songs 4 Worship: Country since its release and major coverage for the project has included, Billboard, Country Aircheck, All Access, Country Standard Time, About.com, Country Weekly, Christian Retailing, CountryMusicOnline.net, Homecoming Magazine, Phantom Tollbooth, Music Row Magazine, ChristianMusicToday.com, Great American Country, Country Music Television, Gospel Music Channel, WMBI/Moody-Chicago, ABC Radio News, Soul2Soul Radio, Roots Music Report, SouthernGospel.com, and local Nashville TV affiliates, WSMV, WKRN, WZTV.
